Baked Tofu

Baked Tofu
1 block of tofu
Soy sauce
Balsamic vinegar
Sriracha or other hot sauce
Vegetarian hoisin sauce

Slice the tofu in half long ways. Slice up the tofu in the opposite direction. Stir together soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, sriracha, and vegetarian hoisin sauce, to make a marinating sauce that suits you.  Place the tofu in the mix. Let sit a few hours, flipping the pieces to make sure they have sauce on it. Preheat oven to 350 F. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, checking every 5 to 10 minutes. Take out and let cool before eating. I like to dice it up and put the marinated baked tofu in my lettuce wraps

Surf trip

So I went on a surf trip and posted pictures. And yes, i will post recipes soon. I just made a black sesame daifuku with a peanut butter filling. my family really likes it so it should be good.
Back to the surf trip, we went down to Pacific City south of Tillamook. Like the cheese place! we didn't tour the cheese factory though. Sad :'( Just kidding, it's not like i could eat the samples any way (lactose intolerant). Anyway, the water was nice and cold! Haha. I rented a wetsuit and that really helped. I had the whole thing, the hood, booties, gloves and yeah. It was a bit uncomfortable putting it on (it was wet) but still, it really helped. I wouldn't want to go out without it. I caught a few, but the waves were 2 stars out of 4 the whole weekend. They didn't have that much power so when you got on it, it wouldn't push you all that far. My muscles were also cramping so that made it a bit hard to paddle. I had a really good weekend and glad that i went on the surf trip with the college kids. There was one other kid that was my age so we hung out a lot. He was pretty good at surfing too, but got cold easily. haha. we knew each other from school and sports.
How was your memorial day weekend?

Surf trip pics!

Went to the oregon coast for my birthday to do some surfing. We stayed on Waelen island. Not sure if thats exactly how it's spelled, just a guess from me.
This is the beach where we surfed. Its right near Pacific City and there is a rock that has a needle hole in it. It's called haystack rock. Pretty legit.  :) like finding a needle in a haystack??
My aunts cat.  He is a Maine coon cat. Very pretty, very big. Lol
I bought a pair of Sanuks while i was there. They had 40% off $50, Which is really good for that shoe.
I found half a sand Dollar while walking along the beach.
This is really big sand dune place and on the other side there is a place that has been washed away by the water and will shoot water up when the tide comes in hard.
We went to Powells bookstore on the way back.
Not really sure the hotel liked the luggage arrangements.
Anyway, That was the trip guys!!

Lipbalms I love!

Here are just some lipbalms that I love that I thought I'd share with you! :D

Here is the latest one that I got. It's aNivea swirl. I was really impressed by the Nivea original blue lip balms so when they came out with this, i decided to get it. And it smells so good and is sooo good for your lips! The chlorine just dries my lips out so it really helps to add the moisture back into them.

Carmex has always been my favorite so i love this lime version! It is like lime soda and i love how it makes my lips kind of feel tingly! :p

and here is an EOS! I got this around Christmas time. It's a great thing to have in your purse, moisturizes my lips beautifully  but the only problem is that if i don't have a back pack or bag with me it isn't very convenient since it doesn't fit in a pocket nicely.... but other than that, it's great.
Here are some other lip balms i love that i just didn't get pictures of.
Softlips - watermelon, mango peach, vanilla, Cherry, Coconut, and pearl
Chapstick - Raspberry Creme, Green apple
Aquafina - orange or citrus blend

Time...

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted like regularly. I have a lot going on, but as things clear out of the way, like our last performances and stuff, I can have more time. I have begun swimming. I started swimming 20 minutes, and I have bumped that up to 30 minutes. I think that's like really good to go that way because you don't want to go hard the first time. Always build up and that can make your workouts better so you aren't like beaten down. Like if i tried to run 10 miles the first time i decided to run, I would feel bad that i wasn't able to do it.
So when ever you start an exercise plan, start out slower and increase time, weight or other factors in the exercise . I also still do running and stationary biking. I don't do much actual road biking because to get any exercise on a bicycle, you have to go really far, and I really don't like going very far. I think that running you don't have to go too far to get some good exercise, but in biking, you have to go like 10 miles out and I just don't like being that far away, since where I live it goes to fields before you know it. We live in a valley so there are wheat fields all around us.
Anyway, so I was thinking that I should start doing videos. What do you guys think?
I hope to be posting more recipes now that I have more time to experiment more...

Aloe vera!!

Hey guys! Today I'm going to share a product with y'all that I really really love! It's called Aloe Vera Gel. For 12 Ounces of Fruit of The Earth 100% gel, it's about $4. Which is really good for lotion and it works amazing wonders! It isn't greasy, you can use it as shaving gel, it puts moisture back into your skin, you can use it for sunburn or burnt skin, and many many more uses. I really like to apply it in the morning because it makes my legs have a very nice feel to them. Very smooth ad silky. :D haha. Awkward! Comment and respond with your reactions to Aloe Vera Gel!

Surprisingly good food!!

Kix are a really good food!! Its 110 calories for 1.25 cups. It makes a nice snack and is a nice light food. Check out the nutrition label.

Not that bad eh? :)

Food holiday and facts!

Hey Guys! I'm working on a healthy food holiday calendars so I can have healthy versions of all the food holidays! It's going to be really fun. I won't be doing every day to being with but it would be nice. Look for those coming up! But I will try to announce what day it is with the recipe, recipe link (maybe) and picture.
I get the Fitness Magazine's Daily Fit Tip and they sent out a "10 foods nutritionists won't eat". I'm reading through it right now and find that it's really interesting. Most of them are pretty like "oh yea, i know not to eat that", but the reasons why are pretty interesting. I really like Self magazine and Fitness Magazine. Both are good resources for health and fitness. So here are some of the stuff that's in this.
Bagels can cause skin problems because of the high glycemic levels.
Soda can have around 10 packets of sugar! Even the diet isn't that good for you either.
There is a lot of hidden sugar in canned tomato sauce. Make you own and find the recipe on this blog! I don't know if it's on here yet, but it will be here soon!
Soy sauce. I'm sorry to say as an Asian, that soy sauce isn't that good for you. It has a ton of sodium in it so that can cause higher blood pressure and so this should be used in moderation. I like to use hot sauce. Soy Sauce does contain things like some of the B vitamins, so it isn't a totally bad ingredient. Just use it in moderation.
thought that would be an interesting piece to share with you guys. I'll hopefully be posting more during the week, but who knows.

ps. I'm swimming more! :D It's a lot of fun!

Buffalo Wings

Here's the recipe for those delish looking fake buffalo wings! It's from Self.com and I fell in love with the recipe! I revised it to make it vegan and used sweet and sour sauce insted of the hot sauce.

Cauliflower Buffalo "Wings"
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 Head Cauliflower
  • 1 Cup almond milk
  • 3/4 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • Sweet and Sour sauce

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat oven to 450 Degrees. Trim the head of cauliflower into appetizer sized bites and set aside. In a bowl stir together milk, flour and garlic powder. Dip each piece of cauliflower into the batter and allow the extra batter to drip off. Place on a greased baking sheet. Spray the tops of the florets with cooking oil. Bake for 18 minutes.

Dip in the sweet and sour sauce and then put back on cookie sheet and bake for 5 to 7 more minutes in the oven. Remove and serve with a side dipping. I just stuck it in a casserole though, and poured some more of the sweet and sour on them.

Bread and Butter Refrigerator Pickles!

Pickles! I love pickles. These are bread and butter pickles. I don't know if you have tried any of these before, but in my opinion, Bubbies makes the best bread and butter pickles. It's between a dill and a sweet, if that makes and sense. Haha.
So here's the recipe. Super easy to make.

4 qt. large cucumbers, sliced
8 or less onions
2 green peppers
2 red peppers
1/4 c. salt
2 c. brown sugar or less
2 c. lemon juice
2 c. water
2 T. celery seed
2 T. dill weed or seed
1 T. chili seeds

Slice unpeeled cucumber (peel only if the skin is super tough), onions and peppers. Place in a flat pan, and sprinkle with salt, layering it so salt gets on most the pieces. Place in the fridge and let stand for about 3 hours.
Combine remaining ingredients and bring to boiling point. Add sliced vegetables and bring to a boiling point but do not boil! Fill hot sterilized jars and let them seal. Make sure they're clean, because even though you're like going to put them in the fridge, it's a good precaution.

2-3 garlic cloves, minced
2 green peppers, sliced

1 t. brown sugar
2 t. salt
1 c. boiling water
4 T. lemon juice
Fry onion, garlic and pepper in hot oil until light brown. Add the spices and tomatoes, and fry well, stirring constantly to prevent the spices from sticking. Add remaining vegetables, sugar and salt; stirrng well.
Add the water; cover and cook until vegetables are tender. Five minutes before the vegetables are done, add the lemon juice, and continue cooking until done. Do not overcook. Serve with rice or dahl lentils.
